The document is a presentation about alternatives to GDP as a measure of economic welfare and happiness. It discusses the limitations of GDP, including that it does not account for income distribution, non-market activities, or factors like health, education and environmental quality. It then outlines some proposals that have been made to develop more comprehensive measures, such as the Gross National Happiness index used in Bhutan and reports by commissions in Europe and the UK advocating a broader set of indicators beyond GDP.
The study examined how factors of happiness differ based on gender and occupation. Researchers conducted a survey of 320 people and used factor analysis to identify 5 key factors of happiness: acceptance and being yourself, resilience, relationship, trying out, and trust. ANOVA tests found significant differences in these happiness factors based on occupation but not gender. The factors provide insight into what influences individuals' happiness and how it varies between occupations.
This report from the International Labour Organization analyzes wage inequality around the world. It finds that global real wage growth dropped sharply during the 2008 economic crisis and has since decelerated, falling below 1% in 2015 excluding China. The report examines wage inequality between enterprises and within enterprises. It finds that wage inequality within large enterprises, particularly among the top 1%, has become substantial and contributed significantly to overall wage inequality. The report discusses how collective bargaining and social dialogue can promote more inclusive wage growth and a narrower wage distribution.

- Wage growth in recent years has been driven by emerging and developing economies, where real wages have risen since 2007. However, wage growth slowed in 2013 compared to 2012.
- In developed economies, wages generally remained stagnant in 2012 and 2013, and in some countries wages remained below their 2007 level.
- The distribution of wages has been a key factor in recent inequality trends in many countries, highlighting the importance of policies that affect income distribution, such as minimum wages and collective bargaining.

The Social Progress Index (SPI) measures social and environmental outcomes in countries across three dimensions - basic human needs, foundations of well-being, and opportunity to progress. It uses 54 indicators to assess relative performance and provide a more holistic view of societal development than economic factors alone. The SPI was created as a complement to GDP because GDP provides an incomplete picture of human development. It follows specific design principles and frameworks to measure and rank countries based on their social progress performance.
This document provides an overview of the Global Wage Report 2014/15, which analyzes trends in average wages and the role of wages in income inequality. It finds that between 2006-2013, real wage growth was driven by emerging and developing economies, while wages in developed economies generally stagnated or declined. The report also examines how wages and changes in employment affect inequality levels in different countries. It concludes that coordinated policies around wages, employment, social protection and other areas are needed to simultaneously increase growth and reduce inequality.
The document discusses various indices for measuring sustainable development, including the Human Development Index (HDI), Inequality-Adjusted Human Development Index (IHDI), and Gini Index. The HDI measures a country's progress in health, education, and standard of living. Mexico ranks 77th in HDI, below other countries with similar resources. While factors like GDP are important for the HDI, unequal distribution of resources between a population can also affect development.

The objective of this article is to demonstrate the need to abandon the calculation of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) which computes all financial transactions whether they are beneficial to the population or not with its replacement by the GPI (Genuine Progress Indicator) to measure the economic progress and social well-being of a nation. This substitution is justified by the conclusion that the rise in GDP in several countries shows no correlation with the increase in the welfare of the nation, quite the contrary. GPI, in turn, considers the welfare and environment parameters using the same methodology for calculating GDP, but, unlike this, it subtracts costs due to factors such as crime, pollution, environmental degradation and compromise of natural resources and systems, besides adding to the calculation items such as domestic and voluntary work that do not occur in the calculation of GDP. The justification for replacing GDP by GPI is presented in this article.
The document discusses political, economic, and social changes in Cambodia and their implications for international non-governmental organizations (INGOs). It notes that while Cambodia has experienced significant economic growth in recent decades, benefits have not been shared equally. It also discusses the changing roles of INGOs, civil society organizations, and overseas development assistance. Stakeholders identified that INGOs should review their future roles, facilitate partnerships between civil society and government, increase local capacity, and improve coordination. The goal is a robust civil society that engages effectively with government to promote development. INGOs may need to scale back service delivery and focus more on empowering and supporting local organizations.
The document discusses how community engagement can help achieve prosperity without economic growth. It argues that GDP is not a good measure of societal well-being and prosperity. Community-led initiatives like school recycling competition schemes in Lewes, UK increased recycling rates. The document advocates combining formal and informal knowledge and blurring boundaries between educators, services, and civil society to build prosperous communities.
This document discusses and analyzes several indices used to measure countries' economic development and human well-being: GDP, HDI, SPI, and HPI. It provides an overview of each index and where Mexico ranks. The document concludes that while all the indices are useful, HDI is the most complete because it considers factors like life expectancy, education, and standard of living that truly define a country's quality of life. Improving according to HDI indices would likely improve rankings in other areas as well. Collaboration across society is needed for countries to continuously develop and provide higher standards of living.
The document discusses GDP growth rates in India and other countries. It provides context on how GDP is used to measure a country's economy. Specifically, it notes that India's GDP growth rate was 2.4% in 2020, while the US was -3.7% and Russia and China were also negative. It defines GDP as the total monetary value of goods and services produced within a country in one year. GDP gives policymakers information to analyze the economy and impact of policies, but it also has limitations in accuracy between countries.

I have watched people share how they lost access to their Bitcoin wallets, be it through hacks, forgotten passwords, glitches in software, or mislaid seed phrases. Some of the stupid mistakes made me laugh; others were devastating losses. At no point did I think I would be the next story. Literally the next morning, I tried to get to my wallet like usual, but found myself shut out. First, I assumed it was some sort of minor typo, but after multiple attempts-anything I could possibly do with the password-I realized that something had gone very wrong. $400,000 in Bitcoin was inside that wallet. I tried not to panic. Instead, I went back over my steps, checked my saved credentials, even restarted my device. Nothing worked. The laughter from last night's videos felt like a cruel joke now. This wasn't funny anymore. It was then that I remembered: One of the videos on YouTube spoke about Cranix Ethical Solutions Haven. It was some dude who lost his crypto in pretty similar circumstances. He swore on their expertise; I was out of options and reached out to them. From the very moment I contacted them, their staff was professional, patient, and very knowledgeable indeed. I told them my case, and then they just went ahead and introduced me to the plan. They reassured me that they have dealt with cases similar to this-and that I wasn't doomed as I felt. Over the course of a few days, they worked on meticulously analyzing all security layers around my wallet, checking for probable failure points, and reconstructing lost credentials with accuracy and expertise. Then came the call that changed everything: Your funds are safe. Youre back in. I cant even put into words the relief I felt at that moment. Cranix Ethical Solutions Haven didnt just restore my walletthey restored my sanity. I walked away from this experience with two important lessons:
1. Never, ever neglect a wallet backup.
2. If disaster strikes, Cranix Ethical Solutions Haven is the only name you need to remember.
If you're reading this and thinking, "That would never happen to me," I used to think the same thing.油Until油it油did.
