Blind Spots in AI and Formulation Science Knowledge Pyramid (Updated Perspect...Ajaz Hussain
油
This presentation delves into the systemic blind spots within pharmaceutical science and regulatory systems, emphasizing the significance of "inactive ingredients" and their influence on therapeutic equivalence. These blind spots, indicative of normalized systemic failures, go beyond mere chance occurrences and are ingrained deeply enough to compromise decision-making processes and erode trust.
Historical instances like the 1938 FD&C Act and the Generic Drug Scandals underscore how crisis-triggered reforms often fail to address the fundamental issues, perpetuating inefficiencies and hazards.
The narrative advocates a shift from reactive crisis management to proactive, adaptable systems prioritizing continuous enhancement. Key hurdles involve challenging outdated assumptions regarding bioavailability, inadequately funded research ventures, and the impact of vague language in regulatory frameworks.
The rise of large language models (LLMs) presents promising solutions, albeit with accompanying risks necessitating thorough validation and seamless integration.
Tackling these blind spots demands a holistic approach, embracing adaptive learning and a steadfast commitment to self-improvement. By nurturing curiosity, refining regulatory terminology, and judiciously harnessing new technologies, the pharmaceutical sector can progress towards better public health service delivery and ensure the safety, efficacy, and real-world impact of drug products.
2. Preliminary Activity:
The participants will be divided into groups.
Each group will take a look at the photo of a person, and
they will be given 10 mins to research and share what they
know about the person.
Each group will choose their leader, and each member must
cooperate and help. (Name your group in a creative way!)
After the time given, every group will present their output.
All members must be given the chance to speak in front.
Every group will be given 5-7mins time to share.
12. From the activity given,
Here are three questions for us to ponder:
1. How did you choose your group leader?
2. Is there any similarity among the photos of individuals presented? How about their
differences?
2. From among the photos of different personality given, which for you is the leader
you want to emulate ? Why?
13. Session Objectives:
To understand the concept of leadership and its significance
to the society in general and to ones life in particular.
To know the meaning of leader and the ideal
characteristics of a leader.
14. What is leadership?
Leadership is the ability of an individual or a group of
people to influence and guide followers or members of an
organization, society or team. Leadership often is an
attribute tied to a person's title, seniority or ranking in a
hierarchy.
In its simplest form, leadership is influencing other people
to follow. Therefore, anyone who can influence people to
follow them has leadership qualities.
Leadership is the art of motivating a group of people to act
toward achieving a common objective.
15. What is leadership?
Gary Yukl (2006), an American Professor at the The State
University of New York, defines leadership as the process of
influencing others to understand and agree about what
needs to be done and how to do it, and the process of
facilitating individual and collective efforts to accomplish
shared objectives
Peter Northouse (2010), Professor Emeritus at Western
Michigan University, USA defines leadership as a process
whereby an individual influences a group of individuals to
achieve a common goal
17. Student Leadership is
Values-driven: leadership is a values-driven, ethical and
moral process; leaders act with self-awareness and in
congruence with their personal values and morals to serve
the common good.
Influential: leadership is a capacity to influence actions,
behaviors, and opinions; leaders use influence rooted in
responsibility and integrity to inspire and motivate change.
Leaders dont need a formal title or position to set a positive
example for others.
Collaborative: leadership is a relational and inclusive
process focused on bringing about a shared vision; leaders
use their influence with and for others, not unto others.
18. Student Leadership is
Purposeful: leadership is action-oriented and mission-
driven; leaders aim to accomplish a goal and create positive
change.
Learnable: leadership is an integrated set of skills, abilities,
and behaviors that can be learned and developed; leaders
understand that leadership is an on-going process, not a
destination.
19. How Does Leadership Work?
Leadership captures the essentials of being able and
prepared to inspire others. Effective leadership is based
upon ideasboth original and borrowedthat are
communicated to others in a way that engages them
enough to act as the leader wants them to act.
A leader inspires others to act while simultaneously
directing the way that they act. They must be personable
enough for others to follow their lead, and they must have
the critical thinking skills to know the best way to use the
resources at an organization's disposal.
Leadership skills can be learned and leaders may evolve.
20. Why student leadership is important?
Students who learn LEADERSHIP can
Self-advocate
Negotiate
Use their voice
Listen
Cooperate
Be confident
Take initiative
Assume responsibility
Act independently
21. Student Leadership is Important in
School
As students mature as leaders, they naturally gain more
independence in both their social and academic lives. By
assuming responsibility, they demonstrate a willingness to
help others, to listen empathetically, and to make sound
decisions. Helping students to develop these character traits
is why student leadership is very important in school.
22. Who is a leader?
A leader is one who inspires and motivates action.
A leader is the one in-charge, the person who convinces
other people to follow. A great leader inspires confidence in
other people and moves them to action.
Leader is "a person who influences a group of people
towards the achievement of a goal.
Leader is a person who sets goals for his/her people or
teammates, and then leads or rallies them to achieve those
goals.
23. Characteristics of a LEADER:
L - stands for listening and keeping an open mind regarding
what you hear. It is important for people to be heard.
E - stands for evolve. To be willing to adjust yourself as the
circumstances change in your teams. People change over time
and as a leader you must evolve as well.
A - is for awareness. As a leader you have to be aware of what
is happening around you. What is the word on the street. We
cannot be distant from the pulse of the organization.
24. Characteristics of a LEADER:
D - is for decisive. As a leader we need to be willing, ready
and able to make a decision. Teams need a direction and a
vision we need to be able to provide it. It can also stand for
"Do-Over" because we have to also be willing to adjust if we
determine we made a mistake.
E - As leaders we need to be "Ego-Less". Leaders need to put
their ego in their pocket and be open to feedback. Humility is
a trait we all need to have.
R - To me the "R" is for "Reachable". We need to be available
for our teams. They need to know that it isn't a hassle for you
to speak with them. Make sure they know that you are here
for them and they can speak with you any time.
25. What Makes a Good Leader?
An effective leader is a person who does the following:
Creates a vision of the future.
Works well with a team.
Enables their team's success.
Demonstrates flexibility.
Leadership brings together the skills needed to do these
things. We'll look at each element in more detail.
26. 1. Leaders Create a Vision
A vision is a realistic, convincing and attractive
depiction of where you want to be in the
future. Vision provides direction, makes
priorities clear, and provides markers for
success.
Leaders hold in mind their vision while
understanding the reality of the present. They
then embody that vision in everything they do
and find ways of connecting it to employee
performance to make it a reality.
27. 2. Leaders Work Well With a Team
Leaders cannot achieve their vision without other
people's contributions. It's a leader's ability to motivate
and collaborate with people that helps them to deliver
that vision. As such, much of effective leadership relies
on people skills.
Leaders need to understand and respect the people on
their team as individuals, and to know how to bring out
the best in them as they work together.
28. 3. Leaders Enable Success
Enthusiasm can run high at the start of a
new project. But it's down to leaders to
guide their team toward the finish line and
equip them with the right tools to get there.
4. Leaders Are Flexible
Leaders need to be adaptable learning
how and when to adjust focus, and
embracing change themselves.
29. Are you the right type of leader?
Whatever leadership situation youre in, know how you want
to lead and how others need you to lead.
The 6 types of common leadership styles are:
1. Autocratic Leader
My way or the highway.
Autocratic leadership (sometimes called authoritarian) is an
aggressive leadership style thats based on control. This style
of strong-willed leadership only leaves room for one person
in charge.
30. 2. Democratic Leader
Democratic leadership is a participative style of leading that involves a team of
people who collaborate with a leader to make critical decisions. This type of
leadership style is very different from autocratic leadership because with a
democratic approach you DO get these things:
Creativity
Multiple opinions
Open forum for feedback
3. Transformational Leader
Transformational leadership is a style thats all about big vision thinking and
intellectual stimulation to create a thriving, openly communicative work culture.
Transformational leaders:
Have an eye for the big-picture
Are charismatic
Motivate those they lead
31. 4.Charismatic Leader
A charismatic leader automatically or intelligently
attracts people just by being their own charming selves.
These types of people are:
Confident
Self-starters
Passionate about what they do
5. Visionary Leader
Visionary leaders are motivated by what a business can
become. They are not preoccupied with technical

32. 6. Servant Leader
A servant style of leadership is when someone works
with a people-first mindset. A servant leader believes
that team members produce their best work when they
feel both professionally and personally satisfied.
This type of leader is the kind of person to have regular
one-on-one meetings to hear struggles, concerns, or
new ideas.
Servant leaders are focused on helping their teams play
to their own strengths.
33. Leadership is not a position or a title, it is
