This PowerPoint is designed to help students identify,
locate, and describe the function of the main parts of
                  the typical flower.

Parts of a flower video

                                                         Quit
The Stigma of a plant is the
sticky end of the Carpel. The
Carpel is the considered the
female reproductive structure
of a flower. This structure, the
Stigma, is used for the
collection of pollen from other
plants.

                                   Quit
The ovary are a structure that
houses the ovules of the
flower. Once these ovules
become fertilized, they then
develop into seeds.

                                 Quit
The ovule is similar to the egg
in animals. It is the female
reproductive cells and when
fertilized by pollen, will
develop into a seed.

The sepals are the leaves
that lie right below the
petals of the flower. The
sepals of the flower are
used as protection and
nourishment for the flower
when it is still a bud.

                             Quit
The Stamen is considered
the male structure of the
flower. The stamen is made
up of the Filament and the
Anther.

                             Quit
The Filament of flower is
simply the stalk part of the
stamen. Its function is to
hold up and support the
anther.

                               Quit
The Anther of a flower is
located at the top of the
Stamen supported by the
Filament. The Anther
contains pollen sacs that
release pollen. The pollen is
then brushed onto the
pollinators ( birds, insects,
ect.) and then brought to the
stigma of another flower of
the same kind.
