A research proposal is a document that outlines
the plan for a research project.
It is a written request for funding or approval to

The purpose of a research proposal is to
persuade the reader that the proposed research
is important, feasible, and worth pursuing.
Components of a Research Proposal
4
o a title,
o abstract,
o introduction,
o literature review,
o research methodology,
o expected outcomes,
o timeline,
o and references.
Each of these sections serves a specific purpose in
outlining the research project.
Importance of a Research Proposal
o It helps to clarify the research objectives and provides a
framework for the research project.
o Additionally, it assists in securing funding or approval
from stakeholders who may be interested in the
research outcomes.
5
Tips for writing a successful research proposal

 Choose an appropriate methodology, providing
a realistic timeline and budget, and
Follow guidelines and formatting requirements,
which is crucial to success.
6
Tentative Title
A tentative title is a working title for the proposed
research project that may change as the study
progresses.
 It should be;
 clear
 concise
accurately reflect the focus of the research.
7
Research Problem
The research problem is the central issue or question that
the proposed study aims to address.
 It should be;
 clearly defined
 focused
 and grounded in existing literature.
8
Definitions of Key Terms
Definitions of key terms are important to ensure that all
readers have a common understanding of the
terminology used in the proposed study.
 These definitions should be ;
 clear
 concise
and based on established definitions in the field.
9
Background Information
A brief background of the area and about the topic which
is chosen for the research
The purpose of providing background information is to
convince the reader that the proposed study is:
 Important
 Feasible
And likely to contribute new knowledge to the field
10
Review of Literature
To go through all the previous researches which has been
done
What will be the need for your research to be conducted?
What are you going to do?
What are you going to contribute something new in the
existing body of the knowledge?
11
Review of Literature (Contd)
Finding the gap is the main objective in this section
Selecting a particular area that has not been yet explored
This way, one will justify why he/she has chosen the
research topic
12
Research Methodology
The methodology that a researcher will be using and following during
his/her research period
It involves a set of techniques, procedures and tools that are used
to:
 Collect and analyze data
 Interpret results
 And draw conclusions
Describes the different types of research (Qualitive or Quantitive )
 Literature : qualitive
Psychology and natural science : quantitive
13
Research Methodology (Contd)
It is necessary to mention the tools that is using in the
research process (questionnaire, interview, observation,
case studies, experiments, etc)
In the case of quantitive research: questionnaire, interview,
observation, case studies, experiments, etc
In the case of qualitive research: mention different theories
which will be used in the research
14
Tentative Parts or Chapters Scheme
It is need to divide the research in different research
chapters
It will required to explain what will be explained in different
chapters
15
8. Working Bibliography
It is the last part to talk about in a research proposal
Writing all the books and other resources which will be
used in the course of the research
Primary resources: main material on which one is going to
conduct research
Secondary resources: all other sources or data that will be
using or collecting
16
Conclusion
Finally, the proposal should include a conclusion that
summarize the key points and emphasizes the significance
