Every1inAsia: Tell us about your background?
I graduated from Queensland University of Technology with a Bachelor with Honors in
Electrical Engineering in 2010, I then completed my Masters in Engineering Management in
2011. After graduating I decided Id really like to get some overseas experience so I moved
to Singapore and began working for an electrical contractor on clean room 鍖t out projects
performing electrical services installation. After 8 months I was ready for something new
and I moved to Bescon Consulting Engineers Pte, an M&E Consultancy, to work as an M&E
Engineer, I was then posted full time to a data centre project as a Resident Technical Of鍖cer
which I worked on for 2 years. It was at this time that I became involved in design, monitoring
and managing the project and had the pleasure of working with some of my new colleagues
Roy, Masselia and Kenny from Commtech!
Every1inAsia: Why did you originally become interested in construction and
engineering?
Whilst studying at high school our tutor would give us electrical engineering assignments,
I found learning how electronic systems work really interesting. I originally thought I would
study electronic engineering but I found that electrical engineering gave more opportunity for
interesting site work and interacting with people, which I really enjoy.
Every1inAsia: What attracted you to work for ISG?
When I returned to Malaysia in 2015. I applied to ISG and I remember that during the 鍖rst
interview I was really impressed by the organisation, particularly the ISO compliance and
process management, as I hadnt experienced this previously. Everything seemed so
systematic, I really liked this. I joined ISG in May 2015, the environment feels like a second
home, I feel very happy working here. My Country Director, Paul Marshall and Project Director,
Aaron Beatus always comment on the fact Im always smiling every time they meet me in the
ISG of鍖ce. Ive always felt supported, if I ever experienced dif鍖culty with site tasks, my Project
Director and Technical Director are always available to provide proper guidance to talk me
through the best methodology to deal with challenges.

Leong has an amazing ability to approach his
workload with a smiling persona. Whenever
asked how he is no matter how busy he appears
to be, he responds with Excellent! This positive
attitude is truly infectious and appreciated in the
demanding industry we work within.
Every1inAsia: What do you enjoy about your job?
I really enjoy dealing with people, talking to people and
managing people. I like that I get to make use of my technical
skills and experience that I learned both through my studies
and my time in Singapore, I apply this in my work every day.
ISG has given me an excellent opportunity to develop both
my career and networking.
Every1inAsia: What project are you most
proud of?
During the last 11 months Ive worked on several projects
and Ive been proud of them all for different reasons. The
鍖rst project I worked on was actually the new ISG of鍖ce
in Intermark. We faced a few issues during construction
but everyone was really happy with the outcome, and the
feedback has been awesome. The second project was Maxis
Shared Service Centre (Network Service Provider) and this
is probably the project Im most proud of as its the stepping
stone for my career in ISG. I have been managing the design,
the consultant, the client and the contractor, and it received a
high Project Quality Audit score so I am really happy with this.
Throughout this project, I was trained to familiarise with ISO
compliance and process management, which has allowed
me to utilise my experience to perform as a one man show
on my next project without assistance.
