placements.
Special education teachers

educators" supporting

Their role is critical in ensuring

must possess high qualifications
and unique personal attributes.

PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES AND QUALITIES OF SPECIAL
EDUCATION TEACHERS
To be highly qualified as Special Education
teacher you must first all meet the requirements
of the Bachelor of Elementary Education major
in Special Education curriculum set by the
National Competency-Based Teacher Standards
(NCBTS) or other equivalent accredited degrees
such as Bachelor of special Education.

Good Teachers are also good

They are able to maintain order.
Provide limits of behavior.
Create an environment where
students feel safe.

of many children with special needs and
personal needs which are unique only to the
individual child, the ability to be firm without
being mean and to come off as someone
who has control are important for SPED
teachers.

classroom lessons and employing
student-centered activities.
 For young disabled children,
manipulative and movement activities
provide an interactive experience.

 Laboratory experiments
 Field visits
 Field trips can be fun and promote
