This document discusses three dimensions of communication: 1) the verbal and nonverbal dimensions which refer to use of language and words versus facial expressions and body language, 2) the oral and written dimensions referring to spoken versus written communication, and 3) the formal and informal dimensions with formal being more meticulous in dress, language, and setting while informal is more casual with no regard for formalities.
3. 1. VERBAL/NONVERBAL DIMENSIONS
Encompass the use if language, the words chosen
(Verbal Dimension) and the facial expressions and
the gestures and bodily movements used
(Nonverbal Dimension)
4. 2.ORAL/WRITTEN DIMENSIONS
Means spoken communication (Oral Dimension)
and the transcription of thoughts and ideas
(Written Dimension).
5. 3. FORMAL/INFORMAL DIMENSIONS
Formal Dimension usually means the meticulous
observation of the appropriateness in dress,

the opposite, that uses a more casual approach
with no regard for formalities.
