Carlos Love was an exemplary student-athlete who led by quiet intensity and example. His coach, Kent Sikora, writes this letter of recommendation to highlight Carlos' maturity, commitment, focus and leadership abilities both on and off the field. It is at his request that I submit this letter of recommendation for Carlos Love. Although he requested my help, I am honored to do anything I can to help a student/athlete of the high moral fiber and character of MHSAA Mr. Love. Carlos was a wonderful model of a student/athlete here at Carlson High School, has done the PLAYOFFS same at Northwood University, and I welcome the opportunity to speak about his merits. 2009 2008 I had the privilege of coaching Carlosin his Senior year of high school football here at Carlson. Along 2006 with this, I also worked with Carlos in the weight room and during conditioning in the off-season. Most of these contacts would come directly after Carlos had put in a full day in the classroom. After earning a 2005 scholarship to play football at Northwood University, Carlos Love has come back to speak at our youth 2004 camp and has been a model of virtue. All of this is to say that I feel I know him quite well. 2003 2000 As an educator/coach, I would be hard pressed to remember a more mature, committed, and focused 1999 young man. He displayed these same qualities as a leader in our football program. I find these to be 1996 admirable qualities in Carlos, and I feel they set him apart in his athletic and academic endeavors. Another quality that I always admired in Mr. Love is the way he leads his peers by example, in a quiet, understated, yet intense manner. These characteristicsmade Carlos a starter for our football program, a captain elected by his peers, and a leader in our hallways. The same qualitieshave also enabled him to earn a scholarship at Northwood, become a captain there as well, and be lauded by his coaches as one of MHSFCA the finest leaders they have seen. I couldnt agree more. ACADEMIC ALL-STATE I am so proud of the strides Carlos Love has taken as a person since he has left here. His maturity and 2010 his unwavering commitment to every endeavor he undertakes are impressive. Carlos sets a great 2009 example, evidenced by his 100+ hours of community service on campus. Some student-athletes are 2008 destined to take on important leadership positions in life. Carlos Love fits into that category. His ability to connect to both authority and his peers is a delicate balance that he handles deftly. Carlos Love has earned every accolade he has received, and has worked hard to put himself into position to be successful. Carlos understands how to take coaching and teaching, and use it to make himself a better athlete and person. Mr. Love is a young man who exhibits some of the highest character and integrity of any young person I have met. His teachers and administrators here at Carlson and at Northwood have conveyed the same messages to me. I have no reservations in giving Carlos Love my highest recommendation. He will truly be an asset to any organization he chooses. I look forward to following Carlos travails throughout his academic, athletic, and professional careers.
