Subject: Hajj Sacrifice meat …

Dear Mr. President,

As a devout Muslim, I have been to Hajj in Saudi Arabia. As an expert on Islam, I am aware of all the
religious duties of Muslims. As a fighter for Human Rights, I know very well that rights of an individual
are more than their right to vote or freedom to wear what they desire. It is also a God given right to
have food on their table without constantly worrying about where the next meal is coming from.

As a Human Rights activist, I do my part to encourage awareness that millions of pounds of meat go to
waste under incompetent hands. For the past two years, I have been doing everything in my power to
induce the Embassy of Saudi Arabia to give an accounting of the disposition of the Hajj meat that
millions of Hajji sacrifice on the day of Eid al-Adha ,"Festival of Sacrifice" or "Greater Eid”.

A brief history of this date: Prophet Abraham (PBH) received a sheep, instead of Ishmael his youngest
son, to sacrifice to Allah (SVT). From that day over 3500 years ago and particularly in the time of
Prophet Mohammad, we have been commanded to give away the meat of Hajj. Wasting is a forbidden
act. In the time of Prophet, people would salt meat and placed it in special animal skin sacks to take
back to their tribes during the months of travel. Since the beginning of Al Saud’s reign, this meat has
been left to rot after Hajj. According to my sources, in the last decade, due to international pressure,
meat is now being frozen and sold.

In March of 2010, the Saudi government finally allowed me a meeting with Dr. Saud Al Sati, Minister
Plenipotentiary, Embassy of Saudi Arabia, Washington D.C. I insisted to know what happens to the meat
they gather during Hajj. This is not just a few pounds of meat but MILLIONS of pounds that could be
given to starving nations such as Afghanistan. Dr. Al Sati, told me in person that the Saudi Government
does not put everything about the donations on their WebPages but he quickly sent me the attached
information with highlights in red.

The question is, what becomes of the surplus meat after Hajj?

Unless your administration thinks it is not important that children in Pakistan, Afghanistan, Africa, and
other countries where teens are so poor that for a promise of 100 dollars they become suicide bombers,
You are one of the few people in the world who can persuasively convey this message to King Abdullah.

For the sake of peace and for the people of Afghanistan, US troop and coalition forces, people must be
fed. A hungry child sees a soldier as the reason for disparity. In Islam we are forbidden to hurt the hand
feeding us.

Thank you for your time.

Yours Sincerely,

Ghazal Omid
