Getting Started -   The Lexile Test




It checks comprehension of a variety

of passages from books

to judge the appropriate level
Students are all registered to the

     online site: cost = $4.50

       for whole time at school
Students sit a Lexile Test of

20-40 multiple choice questions.

Level of difficulty adjusts according to

 whether answers are correct or not
The test provides each student with

an individualised quot;Lexile Levelquot;

Students choose books within a range

of 50 above and below their level.
Students then select from an

individualised book list matched to

their level and chosen interests.
Students earn points for successful

quizzes and a cumulative record of

words read, to eventually become

           millionaires!
After a period of time selected by

each school, the Lexile level is

retested to assess student gains.
Success, matched interests

 and mileage promotes

     a love of reading
