Life in a hostel
In a hostel life a greater part of the day is utilized
for having fun. And being far away from the
watchful eyes of the parents gives the residents
sheer independence. And whereas missing family
goes they are accounted for by friends.
We all know that India with its rich heritage and
culture has numerous festivals throughout the year.
And celebrating it with so many friends around is
just the icing on the cake. Festivals celebrated in
hostels are memorable and unforgettable
experiences in the lives of the residents.
Life in a hostel
Parties are a must in hostels one cannot keep track of
them because it is organized every other days to
celebrate birthdays, good results, new relationships.
And as so many residents stay in a single hostel
occasions keep on coming and partying becomes a daily
affair.
After a tiring day at work or college sometimes a fun
ride enjoyed with friends or a matinee or evening show
movie with friends makes the day enjoyable.
These parties are never forgotten. They just stay as
happy memories and are passed on.
Life in a hostel
Ragging in India is a damaging form of
interaction of the seniors in colleges
, schools, hostels with the juniors, newcomers or
first years. It involves insults (simple or
suggestive sexual, sarcastic and even
physical), running errands for seniors, and many
other complex activities.
Ragging is defined as an act that violates or is
perceived to violate an individual student's
dignity.
Shobhonesh Naskar ,a second-year student of
Management,of Oxford College of Science and
Management ,Bangalore, died due to ragging done by
his own roommates. He was thrown down from the
roof of his hostel while he was talking to his mother.
Sinmoi Debroy, 21, was found hanging from the ceiling
fan, dead, in his hostel room in Chennai on 4 April due
to continuous threats and abuses from the seniors. It
was a private hostel shared by students of various
colleges.
Some residents of the hostels abuse drugs and alcohol that is very harmful for
the health.
Smoking or Tobacco use leads to most commonly diseases affecting the
heart, liver and lungs. It also causes cancer.
Alcohol consumption can lead to liver cirrohsis and too much consumption of
alcohol can lead to alcohol poisoning and eventually death.
Abusing of drugs like marijuana, cough medicine, sedatives, etc causes mood
swings ,violent behaviour, depression and sometimes overdoses of these drugs
leads to death.

Life in a hostel
We all I guess will agree to the fact that
Friendship is the one of the most valued
relationships in the world.
It is the Friends who no matter what are always
backing us up. They share our happiness and in
time of sorrows and grief they always stay by our
side.
And during our hostel life we make many such
frinds for life who make our journey of life a
memorable experience.
Wether we accept it as a rule of nature or a persons
intution but people tend to get attracted to opposite
sexes or feel differntly about them. This feeeling is
sometimes even deeper than friendship so we name it
as love.
In hostel life we tend to meet different people and
sometimes we tend to fall in love with them.
In most of the schools and colleges the girls and boys
hostels are situated in the same campus so it provides
the residents with ample opportunities to love or to find
their perfect mate.
So far we have seen that like everything else hostel life has its
own pros and cons. Well it is completely upto us to decide
which side we choose to accept and which sides we should
reject.
Having said that Hostel Life offers many amusements and we
make some friends for life.
It is a life changing and enjoyable experience.
So keeping all this in mind you should think whether or not
you want have a Life in Hostel, because it is surely going to
change your life forever.
