Define three (3) concept of building
life in maintenance work.


 There three aspect to
 considered as the life
 of building:

 • Physical Life

 •Functional Life

 •Economic Life
Physical Life

•Assuming the property
in structurally sound,
this life can be
extended almost
indefinitely.

•Restore the element ,
planned maintenance
and restore the span of
building.
Functional life
• property may no longer fulfill its
original functional intentions due to
social and technologies changes.
However it may be possible to adapt
the building to cater for these
changes or alternatively adapt it for
a different usages

• such as the house changes to the
museum.

•The structural of the building also
can b e affected to the changes and
it can be affected to the life span of
the building.
Economic Life
• compare maintaining a property
against replacement
• the economic life maybe geared to the
value of the site on which the building is
situated.
•Property manager are concerned with
the profit overt the expected life of the
property.
•When the cost of maintaining the
facilities imposes a heavy burden on
profitable enterprise, it is time
reappraise the use of the primes.
•They may be use to sold, demolished ,
let, or use for other activities for which a
different standard and cost of
maintenance renders the premise an
economic value once again.
