目前市面上大部分的行動不便者電梯按鈕并沒有達到讓行動不便者優先使用的功能。現在的設計只是為了讓行動不便者更好的觸碰到。
請想象這樣一種狀況：現在行動不便者在三樓，他想要下到一樓，但是在六樓有人按了電梯鈕，結果電梯先上到六樓，而在六樓一下子進來了10個人，把空間沾滿了，當電梯下到三樓的時候，他卻進不去，因為已經滿了，如果六樓的人潮遞減的速度很慢，那行動不便者要等到什麼時候呢？
本設計主要通過改變電梯按鈕的設置以達到方便行動不便人士的目的。當行動障礙者按下按鈕后，電梯還是一樣可以先達到有需要下樓的樓層，但是電梯一旦偵測到人數（即重量）超過可以給予行動障礙者使用的空間時，會發出訊號，提醒樓下有障礙者要使用電梯。進而達到為行動不便人士保留空間的目的。
