The Line of Control is a military control line between Pakistan and India in the disputed Kashmir region. It does not represent an official international boundary but functions as a de facto border. Originally called the Cease-fire Line after partition in 1949, it was renamed the Line of Control following the 1972 Simla Agreement. The LoC is approximately 740 km long, running from the Siachen Glacier in the north to the Lala Musa area in the south.
