This document discusses how the media product challenges conventions of real media. It analyzes the media product's trailer using three categories of codes: technical, symbolic, and written/audio. While the trailer depicts a conventional heterosexual romance, it challenges romance conventions by avoiding physical intimacy due to its high school setting. The trailer also challenges conventions through its use of editing, camera techniques, colors, fonts, and adherence to Todorov's theory of narrative equilibrium. Overall, the document analyzes how the media product both develops and challenges real media forms and conventions in its trailer.

The document summarizes a student's media evaluation assignment. It discusses how their music video for Adele's "Turning Tables" both uses and challenges conventions of the pop genre. Specifically, it sets the video on a deserted beach portrayed with dull skies to represent sadness and heartbreak, challenging stereotypes of women in pop music by depicting the female artist as strong. It also discusses the use of props like phones and photos and costumes like a red dress and military jacket. The student concludes their video challenges conventions by showing the artist overcoming heartbreak rather than remaining vulnerable. The response discusses creating ancillary tasks like CD covers in Photoshop and editing the video in Premiere Pro.
The document discusses facts about the US prison system. It notes that between 1980 and 2008, the US prison population quadrupled from 500,000 to 2.3 million. African Americans and Hispanics make up 25% of the US population but 58% of the prison population. Whites use drugs at 5 times the rate of African Americans but African Americans are imprisoned at 10 times the rate of Whites for drug crimes. The document examines concepts like the prison industrial complex and how prisons have been used to deal with economic crises under globalization.
The document describes a proposed mobile application called "Illuminator" that aims to help consumers conserve electricity in Sri Lanka. It would do this by notifying users when electric devices are being used excessively and allowing users to remotely switch devices on and off. Developing this application could help reduce the Sri Lankan government's electricity generation costs and conserve resources for future generations by encouraging more efficient energy use among residents. The document outlines the motivation for creating such an application and describes the proposed design and development process that would be used to build it.
This document summarizes key findings from Bain & Company's Net Promoter Score surveys of customer loyalty across various service industries in Asia and Australia. Some of the main points include:
1) Many service industries in Asia and Australia have struggled with low customer loyalty as measured by negative Net Promoter Scores, indicating more customers are detractors than promoters.
2) Industries that have been most successful in improving loyalty, such as some retail banks in Australia, Singapore, and Japan, have focused on differentiating their customer experience through improved service, products tailored to customer needs, and empowering employees to resolve problems.
3) Financial services industries particularly struggle with loyalty due to a reliance on "bad profits" from

Elizabeth Lane Lawley discusses using playful pedagogy to engage students in their education. She created a project to provide students a record of their accomplishments both inside and outside the classroom in order to increase awareness of opportunities and inspire exploration of new activities. The goals were to give students a sense of their growth, tools to reflect on their balanced experiences, and a feeling of fantasy and playfulness when dealing with the challenges of undergraduate education. Lawley emphasizes allowing student autonomy as key to fostering feelings of competence that enhance learning. She implemented these ideas through a "multiplayer classroom" approach inside her courses.

Bullying is occurring on the playground where 10 people feel unwelcome due to bad language, manners, not playing fair or sharing, and pushing/shoving others or leaving them out. Children should stand up for those being bullied, tell adults about the bullying, and adults should address the issue.
Some students at the playground are not feeling safe, with 10 people (6 girls and 4 boys) feeling this way. The reasons identified are that some children feel left out, there is bad language being used, and sometimes playing is unfair and includes pushing or shoving. The students propose solutions of including those being bullied or left out, playing fair, and encouraging students to tell teachers if they are being bullied.
A student observed bullying in their school lunchroom, where some kids were deliberately leaving no room for other "hot lunch kids" to sit at tables. The student suggests that teachers in the lunchroom could help ensure that all students are able to find a place to sit.
Bullying is a problem for many students both in and out of the classroom, with as many as 5 out of 45 students feeling unwelcome or bullied by their classmates, especially during special classes where bullying may go unnoticed. Students are targeted and made to feel unwelcome through the unkind actions of their peers.

Boys Ian and Blake were in Room 202/Durkee. Boys need to be told that peeking at other people in bathroom stalls is unacceptable and if it happens, they should tell a teacher.
The document discusses bullying at University Park Elementary School and proposes solutions. It notes that boys feel unsafe on the playground due to bullies and cussing. It recommends that kids think before speaking or acting meanly, and that adults increase supervision on playgrounds and fields where bullying usually occurs. It also suggests that adults give tours at the start of each year explaining that all students should feel valued and treated equally to prevent bullying.
Some kids at Upark don't feel safe in the lunchroom because of bullying, while other kids enjoy seeing friends on the playground they don't see in class. The document asks what can be done to help kids who don't feel safe in the lunchroom.
Twelve kids in the author's class do not feel safe on the playground due to bullying from other students using unkind words and rude behavior. The author suggests having more adult supervision on the playground to help address the issue and ensure student safety. Students will also help by standing up for those being bullied, gathering in groups to support victims, and telling teachers about bullying incidents.
