Reinhold Messner

3. Reinhold Messner (Italian), an adven-
turer and explorer became the first ever
to summit all the 14 Eight-Thousandeers
in the World (without bottled oxygen).
Despite suffering the loss of his younger
brother (G端nther Messner) during the
Nanga Parbat expedition in 1970, Mess-
ner took the challenge and completed
the gigantic task of climbing remaining
13 Eight-Thousanders.
With great enthusiasm and efforts,
Messner (and Habeler) became the first to
summit Mount Everest without bottled
O2
. In 1980, he accomplished the simi-
lar feat during the solo climb of Everest
from the Northern (Tibet) side.
5. Erhard Loretan (Swiss) became the 3rd
person to summit all the 14 Eight-Thousan-
deers, and 2nd to summit without bottled
Oxygen.
He made a revolutionary ascent of Mount
Everest in only 43 hours, climbing by night
and without the use of bottled O2
.
6. Alex Lowe The White Knight
Notable for exploring new routes up the
mountain and leading rescue missions.

White Knight, was the finest all-round
moutaineer the world had ever seen.
His notable feats include exploring new and
more difficult routes, first ascents of two of
the mountains and numerous other climbs
and skiing.

9. Jerzy Kukuczka (Polish) was the second
person in the mountaineering history to
summit all of the 14 Eight-Thousandeers
(except Mt. Everest, where he used bottled O2
),
and 3 of them during the Winter.
He achieved all of his 14 summits within
8 years, and established 10 new routes.
11. Sir. Edmund Hillary (Kiwi) was the first person ever to
summit Mount Everest (along with Tenzing Sherpa).
He is also the first person to reach both the North and
South Pole along with climbing Everest.
He devoted most of his life helping needy community
of Sherpa in Nepal through Himalayan Trust (founded by
Hillary), and helped open many schools and hospitals in
the rural regions.
13. Gerlinde kaltenbrunner (Austrian)
is the first woman to summit all of the
14 Eight-Thousandeers without the
support of bottled O2
, and second to
summit all of Eight-Thousandeers.

First Person to undertake the climb of
all Fourteen 8,000ers, Seven Summits
and visits to North and South Poles.

15. Park Young-Seok (S.Korean) is the
first person ever to undertake the
summits of 14 Eight-Thousandeers
and Seven Summits, along with visits
to North and South Poles.
He holds the worlds second fastest
time for ascending the 14 Eight-thou-
sanders, the Guinness World Record
for climbing six of the 8,000-meter
Himalayan peaks within one year.

17. Edurne Pasaban (Spanish) is the first
woman to summit all of the 14 Eight-
Thousandeers (with the support of
Bottled O2

18. #9 Apa Sherpa Super Sherpa
First to Summit Mount Everest for the
total of 21 times.
19. Apa Sherpa (Nepalese), nicknamed Su-
per Sherpa is a mountaineer and expe-
dition leader. He has climbed the Everest
21 Times as of May 2013.
He started his career in the mountains in
1985 (he worked as a kitchen boy and porter for
various groups). It wasnt until 1990, when
he made his first ascent of the Everest.
21. Ueli Steck (Swiss) is known for attempting nu-
merous successful summits of Eiger Mountains at
the shortest period of time, along with summits of
8,000ersW in the Himalaya.
