The document evaluates two potential tunnel locations for filming a music video. Tunnel 1 offers more interesting textures and the potential for silhouettes, but poses risks like wet weather, theft, equipment damage or interruptions from the public. Tunnel 2 has natural lighting and leaves for atmosphere, but its openness means people may be visible in shots and the idea of silhouettes cannot be done due to extra light. Both tunnels are easy to access but Tunnel 1 is preferred for its visual qualities and enclosed feel.
5. Tunnel 1
Positives
• Textures of the tunnel make
it interesting to film
• The silhouettes make it a bit
different to most other
music videos
• The silhouettes also give an
ambiguity to the genre and
an interesting effect
• You can also get a clear
image with a flash so it gives
us options
• It’s a versatile background
so it gives us options to film
a lot of scenes
• It’s easy to get to
Negatives
• It may get tricky to film in wet
weather
• Someone might slip over
• The equipment might get
stolen
• The equipment might get
damaged
• A member of the public might
get in the shot
• Filming might be interupted by
members of the public
• Someone might get hit by a
cyclist
• A cyclist/runner might bump in
to equipment
8. Tunnel 2
Positives
• Versatile background means
we have lots of options
• Has natural lighting which is
flattering
• The leaves add to
atmosphere and could be
used to show anger by
crumpling them
• Easy to get to
• Similar tunnel look to most
music videos
Negatives
• More open as a result likely to
see people in the background
• Not as textured as tunel one
therefore not as interesting to
film as a background
• Roof is a lot higher doesn’t
give the effect of being
enclosed and isolation
• Being more open means we
can’t do the idea of a
silhouette as too much light
would be coming in.
