Ghosts are often thought of as the spirits of the dead who return to Earth for various reasons, such as being reluctant to leave their home or wanting to avenge their murder. Common ways people try to contact spirits include using Ouija boards, speaking to mediums, and participating in seances. Scientists believe Ouija boards are a trick of the mind and mediums are reworking familiar styles, while seances are not explained. Harry Houdini was a famous magician who debunked seances by attending in disguise and never witnessed proof of ghosts. Some think ghost presences can be explained by environmental factors like light and temperature changes.
