Slowly dying open data portals and apps, mistakes in data interpretation and collaborations that never happened - I have now a sad collection of missed opportunities for open data in journalism, based on my research of open data investigative journalism in Russia and experience in teaching data journalism in Western Balkans and Central Asia. Let’s talk about the global trends and regional specifics of not using open data to its full potential, and discuss what are the ways forward to overcome the barriers.
