Budget reporting you should forecast whether you have over- or under- spent in each reporting period and agree any changes to your budget with your Programme Manager. Programme Managers would rather see you use resources effectively than be faced with a big budget variance at the end of the project. Staffing you should always report on any changes in staffing, or significant periods of absence. Issues and Achievements if things arent going to plan, say so, say why, and say how you are handling it. If you need help, say so, it is not failure, its just truthful reporting! Editor's Notes

  • #5: This slide provides an overview of the required reports over the duration of your projects (details of which you will have already received) In addition to the need for us to provide evidence of how this public money is being spent, the information in these reports are also very useful for strand managers to help them: Promote your projects Get a good sense of how your project is progressing, and And offer you any appropriate support you might need Although not a requirement, we very much encourage projects to provide additional forms of communication to the community in the form of blogs, wikis or news feeds etc.
  • #6: Just want to say a little about some key aspects of reporting. Budgets : In your reports you should forecast whether you have over or under-spent in that reporting period this gives us the opportunity to work with you to avoid large budget variances at the end of the project. Strand managers will be open to re-allocating funds between your budget headings within reason but you must speak to them first about this. Staffing : You should always report any changes in staffing or significant periods of absence. Worth saying you dont need to wait for formal report submission dates to do this. Issues & achievements : Your strand manager will want to know if things are not going to plan it gives them an opportunity to work with you, its definitely not seen as failure! Equally if you are ahead of schedule, or things are working really well thats great news, so put this in your report!
  • #8: Templates for all the reports can be found on the JISC Project Management Guidelines website and additional guidance can be found in: Report Writing Workshop Resource Pack (but please note that this is aimed towards writing final and completion reports) A range of JISC InfoNet infoKits , from project management through to change management
  • #9: Each project will have a page on the programme website (either JISC or HE Academy, depending on who is managing your strand). This provides: An overview of the project A copy of your project proposal & plan Your final report (when available) A link to your project website Your project website: Is hosted by your institution Should be updated regularly by you, including: Project materials / reports / general progress News & events (rss if at all possible please) Contact details Anything else you feel is relevant
