In 2005 it was named as Britains 10th greatest natural wonder in a poll by the Radio Times, due to its astounding natural beauty and small size of roughly three miles by half a mile. Sailing from either Bideford or Ilfracombe, the MS Oldenburg ferries passengers and supplies to Lundy at least three times per week, with the crossing itself taking roughly two hours each way. Although English is the first language on the island, the Cornish language is spoken throughout the region.

Spring temperatures hover at a comfortable 10属C, and while showers are brief, Lundy receives up to 75mm of rainfall during the season. During the summer months of June to August, temperatures rise to an average of 17属C, with highs of around 20属C towards the end of the season. The occasional shower will appear, but not too often. From September to October, cooler weather greets tourists. If you visit during these months, you can expect highs of around 14属C. Temperatures can sometimes rise to 21属C in October, but the heat is offset by winds of up to 111kph. In November and December, winter brings lows of around 4属C. Rainfall is most common during this season.
