2. Introduction
? Ammonia received its official name as ¡°Ammoniac¡± in 1787 from the Latin
name of ¡°Ammonium chloride , Sal ammoniac¡± .
? Ammonia was first isolated by Joseph in 1774 and was termed by
¡°Alkaline air¡±.
? Haber Bosch process for produce ammonia from the Nitrogen in the air
was developed by Fritz Haber and Carl Bosch in 1909.It was first use in
industry in Germany during world war 1.
3. Manufacturing Process
? The synthesis gas for manufacture of ammonia is produce by steam reforming or
partial oxidation of hydrocarbon feed.
? The various process used commercially in industries for production of ammonia
are:
1) Imperial chemical industry(ICI)
2) Haber Bosch process
3) Braun purifier process
4. Haber Bosch proces
? The Haber Bosch process is the industrial implementation of
the reaction of nitrogen gas and hydrogen gas .
? It is the main industrial procedure to produce ammonia ;
? N?+3H?¡ú2NH? ( ¦¤H= -92.4 Kg mol¡¥?)
7. Conclusion
?Plasma-enhanced synthesis of ammonia using
transition metal catalysts with a water electrode DBD
reactor.
?All of the catalysts provided stable performances for at
least 6 h, and Ni/Al2O3 maintained an efficient
performance when recycled five times.
?there were no notable differences in the discharge
characteristics for the three different metal catalysts,
these results suggest that the catalytic effects provided
by the chemistry of the catalyst surface are dominant
over the physical effects of the catalysts in the plasma-
catalytic synthesis of ammonia.
