malpractice / maladministration.
 How?
Random sample of 50 AOs; involved desk based work and
visits.

An understanding of an overall approach. But more questions!

Prevention
 Centre approval  a key aspect; ongoing appraisal essential.
 Centre relationships  what makes the centre tick?
 Qualification development  not always considered.

Conflicts of interest
 Investigation  independence essential.
 Business influences  need to be aware and make informed
decisions.
What we found
Investigation
 Focus of the investigation - may need expanding.
 Sanctions - may allow time for the investigation, but beware!
 Reflection on the outcome  any implications for processes /
procedures?
What next?
 Ongoing monitoring programme.
 Visits to centres  to get a better understanding of how policies /
procedures are enacted..
 Further data  we may need ongoing information.
 Guidance - we are considering what and how best to provide this.
