Recently, I watched a great movie based on a true story of a man who broke a mountain for love. This movie really inspired me to create an interesting graphic on this story. I dedicate this work to the real mountain man Dashrath Manjhi.

1960 - GEHLORE VILLAGE, BIHAR, INDIA
Nearest town Wazirgunj is just 4 MILES across the mountain. But one has to go 40 MILES around the mountain to reach the town. So many have died trying to cross the mountain.
There was no school. No hospital. No road.

Dashrath returns to
his village Gehlore
after 7 years.
He meets a girl at a fair on his way to the
village and is besotted with her. Later, he
comes to know that it's his wife Phaguniya.
But Phaguniya's father arranges her second marriage against
her wishes. Dashrath elopes with her on the day of marriage.
SHANDAAR!
JABARDAST!
JINDABAD!
Catch
them!
Run
Phaguniya
Run!
They begin
a happy life
together.
DASHRATH
One day she crosses
the mountain to bring
him his lunch and......she slips
and seriously
injures herself...
which eventually
leads to her death.
Dashrath Majhi is deeply disturbed
and that very night he decides to
carve a path through the Gehlour
mountain so that the village could
easily access medical services.

A drought hits the village and
the villagers are forced to leave.
But Majhi continues his task undaunted.

Finally he was able to carve a path through a
360 ft long, 30 ft wide and 25 ft high mountain
using only a hammer and chisel. Dashrath
shortened travel between Gehlore and
Wazirganj from 40 miles to 4 miles.
