Mario Vargas Llosa is a Peruvian writer born in 1936 in Arequipa, Peru to Ernesto Vargas Maldonado and Dora Llosa Ureta. He studied at the Salesian School Don Bosco and the School San Miguel in Piura, and published his first book "Los jefes" in 1959 at the age of 23, gaining fame with his novel "La ciudad y los perros" in 1962.
