The document summarizes a student's reflection on two virtual lectures about nursing research basics delivered by Dr. Rizal Angelo Natoza Grande. In the first lecture, Dr. Grande discussed key research concepts like paradigms, hypotheses, and ethics. In the second lecture, he explained research processes like quantitative and qualitative methods, sampling techniques, and statistical analysis. The student found the lectures informative and helpful for their nursing studies and future career. They were grateful for the opportunity to learn from an expert and receive research book copies.

Basics of Nursing Research by Dr. Rizal Angelo N. Grande:
A Reflection Paper
On the 29th
day of October 2021, we had our first virtual meeting with Dr. Rizal Angelo Natoza
Grande and there he discussed the basics and fundamentals of Nursing Research. Things like the
difference between Positivist and Constructivist paradigm of research, types of hypothesis, ethical
principles and declarations in research, several definitions of terms, etc. were tackled and delineated to
both 3rd
year and 4th
year students of Lipa City Colleges.
Last November 4 of the same year, we had our second virtual meeting with Dr. Grande and
there he expounded and explained thoroughly the things we have to consider during the process of
creating a research paper. Things like the difference between a quantitative and qualitative type of
research, steps in creating these things, types of research designs, various sampling methods and
statistical analysis of data, levels of measurement, etc. were clarified and elucidated to us, nursing
students.
Based on my observation and assessment, I find the lecture somehow interesting and
knowledge-gaining. It may be boring for some people but for me who has a little background about
creating a research paper, I look at it as something that I should learn for this will be beneficial not only
to my present self but also to my future. We are very privileged to be a part of this intensive lecture and
grateful at the same time for we acquired a free review about research and free copies of published
books by the speaker.
For 2 days of intensive lecture, my mind was refreshed about the things that Ive learned way
back in my Senior high school days and apart from that, I also gained a lot of new knowledge and
information in creating a research paper. Albeit the numerous changes, I find it interesting because as
time goes by, the quantity and quality of research papers are also growing and improving. This time, I
realized that there are lots of things that I dont know yet and that I still have a long road to walk into.
May God, the Creator, guide us at all times.
