Math journal chapter 11

       Max Parker
Volume

Volume is the amount of matter that can fit
  into a 3d object
It is used for aquariums and pools and also
  packaging
You convert one unit to the other by
multiplying from m^3 to cm^3 multiply by
1000000 or the other way dividing by
  1000000. Multiply 1000 from cm^3 to mm^3
and the other way divide by 1000
Examples
 1m^3*1000000=1000000cm^3
  1000000cm^3/1000000=1m^3
 1cm^3*1000=1000mm^3
  1000mm^3/1000=1cm^3
 1m^3*1000000000=1000000000mm^3
  1000000000mm^3/1000000000=1m^3
prisms
To find the volume of prisms you multiply the
  length times width times height
To find the volume of a prism with a cross
section you find the area of the base then that
  times the height
Examples
Capacity
Capacity is the amount of water a 3d object
  can hold
We use capacity for fish bowls, aquariums,
  and reservoirs
You times 1000 to convert to lower unit and
divide by 1000 to convert to a higher unit
 1ml is 1cm^3, 1000cm^3 is 1l, 1m^3 is 1kl
Examples
 1kl*1000=1000l 1000l/1000=1kl
 1l*1000=1000ml 1000ml/1000=1l
 1kl*1000000=1000000ml
   1000000ml/1000000=1kl
 3cm^3=3ml 1000cm^3=1l 1m^3=1kl
Mass
Mass is the amount of matter it has

We use mass for weight, for cooking and for
  stars and planets
You convert mass by multiplying and dividing
  by 1000
Examples
 1Kg*1000=1000g 1000g/1000=1kg
 1g*1000=1000mg 1000mg/100=1g
 1kg*1000000=1000000mg
10000000mg/1000000=1kg
Time
To convert time you divide by 60 to get
seconds and minutes and to get hours you
divide by 24 then divide by 7 to get days and
  by 52 to get weeks
We use time ones because in one place the
sun will be setting and in other places the sun
  will be rising
Examples
   1min*60=60 sec 60sec/60=1min
   1h*60=60mins 60mins/60=1h
   1d*24=24h 24h/24=1d
   1w*7=7d 7d/7=1w
   1y*52=52w 52w/52=1y
