Roles & Function of MCMC in Content Development




                            Roles & function of Malaysian Communications and Multimedia
                                Malaysia (MCMC) in Content Development as per National
                                                                  Policy Objectives are:

        1. To promote Malaysia as a major global centre and hub for communications and
                                                    multimedia and for content services.

       2. To grow and nurture content as cultural representation that facilitates the national
                                                               identity and global diversity.

Creative Industry Development Fund (CIDF-MCMC)


Objective
  To facilitate and encourage Malaysians involvement in the creation and
  production of highly creative, original and marketable multimedia content
  for domestic and international markets.



Allocation
  A total of RM100 million is allocated for the period of 3 years
  (2011  2013).

CIDF - MCMC


                Applicant must be a Malaysian small and medium sized company
                 as defined by SME Corp with at least 51% local shareholding;
                Applicants receive not more than 2 times of content
                 development fund from other government agencies;
                Applicants are not blacklisted or have records of failure in their
                 past project implementation upon receiving similar grants from
                 other government agencies;
                Applicants proposal is in line with objectives and focus areas of
 ELIGIBILITY     the CIDF;
 CRITERIA       Government agencies, academic institutions, non-government
                 association, enterprises, partnership and individual are not
                 eligible; and
                The IP shall be owned by the content developers and the
                 content developed has to be new and original.

Achievements:
   International sales  Japan, Singapore, Russia, Middle East,
    Canada, Italy;
   Local front - NTV7 and ASTRO Ceria;
   Co-produced Boo & Me ! with Kidsco, a UK based
    childrens television network. It was aired in 65 countries
    and available in 15 languages.
   Currently, they are producing the 2nd season of Boo & Me
    series.

  Achievements:
     The first Mobile Dhivehi News Reader was launched
      with Wataniya, a subsidiary of Qatar Telecom in

     Launched with local telcos: Maxis, Celcom and DiGi;
     Collaborate with Berita Harian and Harian Metro to
      offer Jawi News on mobile.
     Has successfully developed Mobile Jawi on iPhone
      and Blackberry.

 a 6-episode TV documentary, seeks to dismiss
 the notion that Alexander the Great is Iskandar

    Collaborate with Celcom to offer mobile video
     content;
    Book on similar topic went for 5th reprinting and
     sold for more than 30,000 copies.

    platform that is being used by EA and
    GLU.
