Task 3
What kind of media institution might
distribute your media product and why?

WHAT DOES A PRODUCTION COMPANY DO?
?

?

?

?

A production company helps to create the film. It assists in
the budgeting, scheduling, scripting, casting and more.
The company usually looks over the film at the beginning
when its an idea and at the end when its complete.
They are responsible to find a director and most of the acting
talent required
Also they are responsible for anything to go wrong,
such as an actor being injured or a props to damaged
THE PRODUCTION COMPANY LOGOS YOU HAVE
CHOSEN AND OR CREATED AND WHY?
?

?

We wanted to create our own production. We wanted it to be
related to our genre of film which was a teenage drama. We
wanted the title of the production company to have the word
¡®Teenage¡¯ in it. We didn¡¯t want it just to have teenage across the
top because it didn¡¯t look right. We wanted something else to go
with it. We chose the word ¡®Flicks¡¯ this is because films can be
shortened down to become flicks and it sounds interesting.
We wanted our logo to have something to do with ¡®Teenage Flicks¡¯.
So we decided that the ¡®T¡¯ and ¡®F¡¯ should be formed together to
create one logo. This was effected because people could
understand what is said and it was easy to read.
WHAT DOES A DISTRIBUTOR DO?
?

?
1.
2.

3.
4.

A distributer sends your film out into the world were the audience
will watch it. They decide where and when your film will show and
they also promote the film.
There is four steps that are followed in the process of distribution:
They have to determine how many copies they want to make.
Then the film is previewed the prospective buyers ( cinema
owners).
The film is sent back to the cinema before it is opened.
The cinema will then show the film to the audience, then it will get
sent back to the distributers and payment is agreed.

However in a short budget film more steps maybe required.
WHY YOU HAVE CHOSEN THE DISTRIBUTION
COMPANIES YOU HAVE TO RELEASE YOUR FILM?
?

We chose the distributor to be Nickelodeon.
Nickelodeon Movies have done teenage films such
as Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging. Therefore
we think that it will be a good and suitable
distributor.
HOW MIGHT YOUR FILM HAVE BEEN FUNDED?
?Our

film would be funded by Nickelodeon Movies.
For making it our distributor in return they will be
promoting, advertising and releasing the film.
?We

looked at different distributors that could release
our film for example Metrodome. Metrodome do only
British films such as Shifty. Therefore we could have
used Metrodome because they would have got us our
target audience.
