What have you learnt about technologies from the
process of constructing this product?

From creating this magazine, I learned how to operate high tech camera
and studio equipment, a dslr being the camera used for all
photography, and i also learned how to set up backdrops as I insisted on
putting it up with help myself.
Soft boxes in a photo shoot are almost gridded boxes work as a flashlight
when taking pictures. These were used throughout all photography, at
different settings, and once settings are changed the flash was dumped as
a resetting action. The photo shoot taught me the importance of a double
sided reflector as it has a strong affect on the outcome of photography
specifically on faces, as they can give a bronzed or silver affect which
shows p more on skin. Photoshop is one form of technology that I am
becoming used to, and this task only bought me closer to being used to
it, as I was using it for different things to what I once did and that allowed
me to form a deeper understanding of tools such as the magic eraser which
was used on my front cover.
InDesign is a programme i would say Im more used to than Photoshop as I
understand how more things work and what to do when I need something
still slightly more than on Photoshop. This is because of previous tasks as
both programmes are user friendly but i have more experience with in
    design.
Question 7

                                     Front cover

For Photoshop in particular, I have learned that there are different features that affect how a music
magazines front cover looks, i.e. professionalism. Because of my conventions that I did follow from my
two genres my colour scheme on my cover remained simple, as throughout, i used mainly two
colours, which is more of a convention from rap music, as rock music is becoming more and more
colourful. This was technically used in the preliminary task as well, as I used black and white, but that was
for a different reason, as a two colour scheme causes the magazine to look formal. The photography used
in the preliminary task was of a much lower standard than that of the magazine, as high quality
photography equipment was used rather than a portable camera, which completely changes the result. The
preliminary task also caused a limit for ideas, as i had little to no idea as to how the pages would be
formed, especially for the front cover, whereas for Abstract, i was aware of what i was going to do before
the task was even given, which came as a great weight off of my shoulders as well an artistic opportunity.
On a whole, for Abstract magazines front cover, this was a more rewarding and hard work oriented part of
the project rather than the preliminary task.
Contents page

My contents page from my preliminary task was possibly the weakest part, which
spurred me on into making sure the contents page for Abstract was stronger and one
way that this was achieved would be through the use of professional photography
equipment, as well as more organized but funky columns made on InDesign, which
helped this contents page look more professional. Another way that i attempted to
improve this, was through the use of not just better as in camera quality, but better
pictures in general. The layout was highly influenced by my case study as I based my
contents page on kerrang, just on two pages instead of one, which helped me to come
up with the current layout, rather than being completely new to making contents
  pages.
