This document is a media questionnaire completed by Jake Austin. It summarizes his media consumption habits and preferences. Jake prefers accessing news and information online rather than print media. He listens to various music genres and is in a band. He downloads music through various sources and feels the music industry is overpriced. He enjoys playing video games with friends but does not play often. Jake believes technology increases access to information but can reduce face-to-face interactions. He downloads media through torrenting. 4. Print media
• Whenever I read the news I read it online very
rarely read newspapers. I prefer this due to
easy access and not needing to buy a
newspaper.
• Don’t read any particular magazines often.
5. Radio media
• Other than radio stations on last.fm and
spotify I very rarely listen to the radio.
• Sometimes listen to radio 4 in the car and
while cooking.
6. Music industry
• Favourite genres: blues, jazz, hip-
hop, soul, reggae, ska, folk, country, classic
rock, acoustic, swing, electro
swing, punk, post punk, ska jazz.
• Belong to a band in which I play the drums.

• I access my music through
iTunes, spotify, last.fm and YouTube.
7. Music industry continued
• I think it is okay to illegally download music as music is
over priced. I download all my music through
torrenting.
• The music industry to me died long ago so todays
industry doesn’t influence me. However in general the
music industry is one of the biggest influence on our
general attitude to life. Music is full of subliminal
messages, philosophical, political and social themes.
Music can influence people for the better or worse an
example of this is the effect rap music has on violent
and anti social behaviour.
8. Video games
• My favourite video game is probably: Call of
duty: zombies and I like it as I don’t play much
video games anymore but it is very good for
playing with friends.
• I agree that video games can have negative
effects on peoples attitudes however to much
of pretty any form of media can have bad
effects on people. And it is only bad if you play
bad games.
9. New technology
• Technology has made this world in the the world
of information and technology such as the
internet have allowed me to research anything I
like which dramatically increases your
understanding of the world.
• Technology makes it easier to communicate with
each other however I think it is to easy to get
used to electronically communicating and
forgetting the importance of face to face
interactions.

• Technology allows me to torrent(download)
anything I want for free within the click of a
button.
• When creating media texts the internet allows
you to have all the information you will need
right in front of you.
• Social networking sites are good for keeping in
touch with people however people get very to
in to them and get hooked.
11. Television
• I don’t really watch tv.
• Probably documentaries as other than them I
don't watch anything on tv.
12. Feature film
• If I had to pick a favourite genre it would be
thrillers.
• 3 films I find outstanding: City of god, Jackie
brown, pulp fiction.
• I consume most of my films on my pc as I
torrent them.
• Vue as its easy to get to.
• I prefer to watch films alone as no
distractions.
13. Conclusion
• No media text has offended me.
• schindlers list because it gave an insight into
Nazi Germany and the impact that one man
had, saving so many lives.
• I chose media studies because it interests me
and I took it last year.
