The MGJ3 and MGJ6 power supplies from Murata are designed to provide gate drive power for IGBTs, SiCs and MOSFETs. They offer advantages over alternative solutions like bootstrap circuits or transformer coupling by providing galvanic isolation up to 5.2kV, immunity to high dV/dt, and protection from overcurrent and short circuits. Testing at Nottingham University validated their performance for applications requiring high power switching of up to 3W for the MGJ3 and 6W for the MGJ6. The surface mount units can be used in various topologies like half bridges, full bridges, or three-phase bridges to support different circuit needs.

ALTERNATIVES
1. Bootstrap - Low cost but unipolar and no isolation
3. Standard Isolated Product – Not designed for high dV/dT
2. Transformer Coupled – Relatively low cost
but no desaturation protection
