This document discusses the importance of patient privacy and maintaining trust in healthcare. It states that patients trust their personal health information will remain private, and any violations could result in losing that trust or even termination. Healthcare workers are told to view protecting patient privacy as being a vital part of the team and important for the reputation of the organization. One weak link in keeping information private could jeopardize the whole system.
3. Some things to remember:
Whenever patients come to us for care they
first and foremost place their confidence in us.
To violate that means loosing that trust.
Just like any of us our patients value their
privacy.
5. Try to view patients security as you would the
anchor on a ship
That anchor would only ever be as strong as
the weakest link.
Never allow yourself to be that link.
Everything related to your job is done as part
of a team.
7. This class should be considered very seriously.
Violations of the rules and regulations related
to patients privacy and security may or may not
be accompanied by a warning.
Warning or no could and will result with
termination.
9. This company considers a good reputation as
equivalent to money.
Consider always that as an employee you are
part of a team.
Success relies on everyone doing their level
best at all times.
One sure way to success is having and
maintaining a good reputation.

Editor's Notes
This lesson will involve teaching employees the pros and cons of confidentiality and who it affects. One thing to always remember is that loose lips can and will sink ships.
Always try to stop and think what privacy means to you then try to apply to any and all patients. This could be an excellent personal guide that could have you always doing right by your patients.
When you as employees think of patients privacy and security the following acronym should come to mind PPS meaning patients privacy and security.
When patients come to our facility for any medically related reasons they are already in a vulnerable position. If their security is in anyway jeopardized it will only add to the stress they will have already being experiencing. Is that something you would willing do to anyone?
If the situation has reached a point where you would require a warning that would not put you in a good position. You would now be under microscopic observation at all times.
A special committee will decide the employees faith. No recommendations would be offered for further employment either.
At the end of this class each employee would be required to sign documentation of the training and a promissory statement to uphold the rules and regulations related to patients privacy and security. This lesson would be taught and signed annually by all without exception.
