MIC sme is a collection of web applications run by RASS Center that provide centralized services for human resources, administration, finance, IT support, and quality assurance. It includes employee collaboration tools, applications for employee information, payroll, financial accounting, and more. Workflows automate processes like leave applications and employee status reporting. The applications implement multi-level access controls and allow for customizable menus and in-window data editing to reduce costs and secure data. Applications Access Control has been implemented at multiple levels.
- The initial access control is enforced through user logins. Two types of logins
are implemented. Those connected to Company Network can login without giving
username and password. This is the most secured login. To log on from home
and other locations not connected to Company Network, users are required to
give username and password.
- Second level access control is enforced at menu invocation level. A menu item
is visible only to authorized users such as Employee Information menu item will
be visible to HR and other authorized users only.
- Third level access control is enforced at the action level such as can this user
edit help or can this user view salary info etc. This is the most detailed and
effective access control.
Contents Management features include -
- Changing and extending menus. Menus are maintainable by any user who has
the required access rights. Users can add new menu items and modify the
behavior of the existing menu items such as who can access the menu item or
whether the menu item should open through a button click in central window or
open in a new window etc.
- Data Editing features provide in window editing capability i.e. within desired
window at the home page the form opens for editing data. Switching between
pages is avoided.
5) Technology Used:
ASP.Net/Forms/C# has been used for application development. User Controls are
extensively used for shared code and functionalities that are required in more than one
page.
SQL Server 2008 Standard has been used as the database. Web server is IIS7 on
windows 2008 standard. Server hardware is entry level HP server.
