This document discusses different types of microphones used for recording. It describes a condenser mic as more sensitive than a dynamic mic and prone to noise interference. It needs to be mounted on a mic stand and protected from spitting with a mic guard or shield. A shotgun mic picks up sound from any direction through its omni-directional pattern. It requires phantom power and an XLR cable to operate. A dynamic mic is handheld and better suited than a condenser for handling high sound pressure levels during music and vocals.
