SHORT SUMMARY
A boy is in an apartment and the phone continually rings but he keeps picking it up and hanging up
straight away. He finally answered and on the other line was somebody talking in a low voice which is
hard to hear.
The boy starts to panic and keeps trying to get off the line. He tells the person on the other line
somebody has been watching him.
A letter then comes under the door which read no one can save you. He then tells the person on the
other line to tell everyone bad people are around and they will kill people, he starts getting angry and
he sees he has got another note. Reading We know who you are Ethan. The line goes dead.
He looks at his reflection in the mirror and then the scene match cuts to somebody watching him on a
pc monitor. It ends with a man twirling a pen in his hand then circling the boys name.
LINEAR/ NON
LINEAR
The story line follows a non
linear theme as you feel
like within the scene
someone is going to come
out of nowhere and kill the
boy in the film. You would
not expect it to be
somebody just watching
him.
LIVE ACTION/
ANIMATION
The film is shot in a live
action shot as by not
adding animation It may
have turned the film
childish
HOW ARE THE
THEMES GROUPS AND
CHARACTER
REPRESENTED
 The theme sets a gloomy
tense atmosphere as the
film is in black and white and
changes into colour once the
boy is on he monitor it as if
Everything we was watching,
was what was seen through
the monitor.
The boy is very anxious and
panicky as he des not
understand what is going on
or happening around him
CAMERA TECHNIQUES
Wide shot, mid shot and close up was used to look at the phone while it is ringing.
High angle was used when the boy went to pick up the phone.
In a way they used a two person shot while the boy was looking at himself in the mirror.
Wide shot while the boy is sitting next to the phone.
Close up of the letter coming through the door and once its opened.
Extreme close up while boy is on the phone.
EDITING
Fade to black at the end after the man circled his name. This could have been used to cause tension and
make people want to see more.
Fast fade on to next scene causing a fast action pace as the boy was panicking the effect allows the
scene to add to that.
Match cut of the boy walking around the room with the phone ringing.
Motivated cut of the boy looking at the mirror and then the person on the other side looking at him
through the monitor.
Jump cut was used when he boy was on the phone to when the letter was passed through the door, this
causes tension and makes people want to see what is on the letter.
SOUND
MISE-EN-SCENE
Location:
- Apartment
- Office
Lighting:
- Dark
- Black and white
Costume:
- Normal Clothing
- Dialogue
- Sound bridge right
at the beginning in
the transitions of
the black out to
phone ringing.
TARGET
AUDIENCE
- I would class the
film to be set at 21
years plus. As it
may seem boring
to some teenagers
as they have less
of an attention
span to someone
who is 21.
