analysis of Solid Waste Management for
accumulatedsolid waste in last 65 years &
complimentsthe vision of Shree Narendra
Modi for clean, beautiful Bharat.

Weakness
• All the discussions or thoughts given to this mega
problem concludes to educate the society to
segregate the dry and solid waste at source
• Do we expect something which could not sustain
or immediate possible.
• Indiscriminate disposal (throwing) is culture of
Bharat

Weakness
• Dump Yards happens to be far away from the
than towns however expanding towns has
reached or now these dump yards are very much
within city and have reached to highest nuisance
to the society without any solution.
• May not be Direct Cost effective with considering
no expenses and bare with huge nuisance.

Threat
• Accumulated waste over last 60-65 years
– The largest source for contamination
– 24X7threat to habilitation in the vicinity in other
words command area.
– The largest illustrative example is Deonar dump yard
as well as all small /large towns of
Maharashtra/Bharat
– Accumulatedwaste approx 1.5-2 cr.MT only @ Deonar
– Also this dump covers 112 hect. Of land

Strength/opportunity
Can it be solved?
Yes we can

• Our approach is little different in spite of asking
the disciplined behavior for an objective largely
misunderstood by largest (almost all) section of
the population of our country, the approach is
that accept the fact, that indiscriminate
(throwing)disposal of solid waste generated by
individual or common community.
• This is an engineering challenge.

• Therefore the application should start where the
stagnancy of thoughts occurs.
• We should approach the problem considering the
starting object to the end product till this date ie.
hapazardous thrown solid waste.
• Overall polices are to shift the place of thus
generated SW, but there is always an open end
and retaining most non required commodity.

• We herewith propose to have the policy designed
for this cause is as under.
• All the cities/town’s does have dumping ground.
• At the time when this dumping ground was
created was having less value or no value.
• Today all these land are within town and holds
precious land as well as become high hazardous
nature within society.

• All these accumulated dumps should be shifted
to a land far-far away and centralized processing
capacities should be installed for these dumps.
• Advantage with centralized processing will be
availability of alternate capacities for any kind of
breakdown and will facilitate to achieve zero
balance without allowing any carry forward

Is it possible?
Yes it is.

• Considering all practical movement of this SW,
mechanized step by stem this can segregated
processed and finally termination of all different
category (Properties) material by application of
suitable method to the respective properties of
the SW segment.
• Biodegradable, plastic, wood , glass, ferrous,
nonferrous metal, debris etc.

• Nutshell objective should be Zero balance per day for
everyday generated SW.
• This can be achieved only by installing at least 1.5 time
w.r.t and implementing zero carry forward policy.
• Every fraction can be handled and has termination
technology in existence.
• Synchronized combination will take care of this
unresolved problem.

• Foreseeing and probability of break downs as
well as escalation in generation SW,
processing capacities should be planed.
• SW is needed to be addressed by two angles
1. Clearing the accumulated
2. Zero balance per day generated

• Our suggestions (1)
– Identify huge non fertile rocky waste land which is
unfit for any kind of good use and rail connected.
– Transfer all accumulated SW to this destination.
– Install 150% processing capacity indigenous
technology does exist can be developed.

• Our suggestions (2)
– Install Processes capacity either locally or to the
same centralized area this facilitate to overcome
day today technical problem being near by
process units.
– Collective efforts will help for
upgrading/understand technology

Threat
• Criticism
– Centralized working is discouraged over a period as
policy
– Tipping cost is added on already reject commodity.
– Lot of talks for alternate technology as well as non
working applications to delay and continue to hold
these undesired accumulatedstock of SW

opportunity
• Advantages
– Gov can bye back the produce and distribute to the
farmers or create a fertile land on existing wasteland,
– Subsidies tipping fees and control the price of thus
produce from this process
– There is huge indirect cost incurred by gov. on health
programmes in the vicinity of these dumps e.g.
surrounding Deonar (Arial Catchment area) is
estimatedto Thousands of cr /annum

opportunity
• Shifting and terminating this dump alone will
be big achievement towards improving the life
style of the large populationof that locality
• Reclaim of 112 hectors of land.
• If used as slum rehabilitation purpose will be
the biggest advantage of shifting of
DEONAR DUMP

opportunity
• The logic is that, at end of the day SW should
convert in to respective fraction and should
loose all nuisance value.
