The Royal Thai Army plays an important role in disaster relief operations in Thailand. After massive floods in 2011 that caused over 300 billion baht in damages, lessons were learned about coordinating relief efforts and improving capabilities. The army established disaster relief centers and detailed plans for relief operations, but still faces challenges like limited budgets. Thailand cooperates with ASEAN and international partners like the US and Japan on disaster management and relief.
