Editor's Notes

  1. The web is increasingly Social, as are sites that were once not considered anything to do with a social network. Traditional social networks such as Facebook, Twitter, Linkedin, Foursquare, Quora etc. have blended into other web pages and thus the mobile web and app world too via plugins, open sourcing. Whilst websites or apps that begun with their focus on other services or topics have become increasingly social in their design over the last few years (think Instagrams original function as a photo filtering service that has now grown into a social network of its own, with heavy integration into Facebook and Twitter).http://www.ere.net/2013/03/18/45-million-monthly-mobile-linkedin-searches/
  2. Studies have shown that pictures and photos are liked 200% more than text updates alone on Facebook
  3. Visual content is key to social sharing, and works especially well on mobile, which have inbuilt cameras and display pictures more easily than tricky to see text and links.

  9. There is one important distinction between Facebook search and what Google does. Google searches the entire Internet based on complex algorithms and simple keywords, whereas the yet-to-be released Facebook search (which will be gradually rolled out over the next year) searches purely within Facebook data, and more specifically only a set of Facebook data that you would have access to already, through your friends. In other words you can search within your friends but not those you arent already connected to, or those who have blocked you.
