Eric Starr
Monday
Analyzing the Learners:
- 20 7th grade students, (13 girls, 7 boys)
- 5 White, 10 Latino, and 5 African American.
- 1/3 of the class is considered visual learners, another 1/3 are hands on learners,
and finally the other 3rd are book learners.
Main Objectives:
The class of 7th graders will be presented with a variety of different materials.
The materials that the students will be presented today include: A brief lecture on
Michelangelo and the Renaissance, they will watch a YouTube video on
Michelangelos life and works, I will also create a helpful photo of a crossover
between Michelangelo the painter and Michelangelo the Ninja Turtle. I will also
introduce them to Voki as well. The Voki will give some general information out
about Michelangelo. Along with the Voki, I will show the students how to use QR
Codes. I will explain just what they are used for and the link will take them to a
museums website in Florence, Italy. By the end of the class period 100% of the
students will be able to successfully identify the artist Michelangelo.
Breakdown:
I will begin the lesson with a brief and general lecture on what the
Renaissance is in the first place. I will explain what the word Renaissance stands for
as well. Next I will show them a YouTube video that lays out a brief biography of
Michelangelo. Finally, I will create a picture fusing the face of Michelangelo the
painter with the bandana of Michelangelo the Ninja Turtle. The point of this is to
give the students an anchor to relate the name of this artist to a character they might
be watching every Saturday morning. Finally, I will briefly show them a Voki that I
made that will give some general info on Michelangelo as well as showing them the
link to a QR Code in which I created for the class.
Technology Used:
-Projector/Smartboard
-Photoshop
-YouTube video player,
-Marker board and markers.
-Voki
