Isabelle Peyrichoux conducted an international intranet needs analysis for the French-Speaking University Agency in 2002. She traveled to their offices in Montreal, Paris, and Dakar to interview employees using observation, focus groups, and individual interviews. Her goal was to understand employees' daily information needs and tasks to design a useful intranet site. Through flexible and culturally-sensitive methods, she was able to gather valuable needs assessment data to inform the intranet design, though only 15% of her recommendations could be implemented due to organizational constraints.
