This document discusses motivation in the workplace. It begins by defining motivation as an internal process that drives a person towards a goal. The objective is to examine if money is the greatest motivator. A survey was conducted that found 76% of employees believe money is the greatest motivator, while 20% said rewards and recognition, and 4% said praise and promotion. The conclusion is that while money is important, focusing solely on salaries can decrease other motivators like learning and creativity that improve performance. Motivation bridges the gap between where employees are and where they want to go.
3. ABSTRACT
Motivation is a reason or a
psychological feature that
induces an individual to act
in a particular way in other
words it narrows down ones
inability or incapacity gap
and brings out the highest
level of individual creativity.
4. Introduction
Motivation is a internal process
that makes a person move
towards a goal motivation like
intelligence cant be directly
observed instead motivation can
only be inferred by noting a
persons behaviour
5. Objective of the study
1. Money is the greatest
motivation at work place
2.Motivation fulfills the
gap between where we
are and where we want to
go
6. Money is the greatest motivator
The dynamic force that ultimately guides work related
behaviour is money, money and only only money.Money is the
sole motivator in work and many other environment .We all
work for money, which support our family for eating , dressing
,travelling , shopping and so on .Money brings everything for us
.We all work because we expect to get something in return, the
returns differ from and individual to individual particularly in
case of workplace
7. Bridges the gap, where we are and
where we want to go
Where we are Where we w
motivation
8. Motivation acts like a bridge that
eliminates the difference and realises
the self actualizing man approach ,
emphasize in intrinsic element which
comes from within the person and it
energizes directs stimulates , drives
him. In reality nothing motivates
people says S.D Tuskie they motivate
themselves .Clarity and commitment
can however help to create a purposeful
image or vision with which workers can
identify and W.B Werther Jr adds
loyalty creates the extra effort and extra
drive that separates the organisation
from others
10. Research Methodology
To prove the research that money
is the greatest motivator at the
workplace a survey was carried
out in the ICICI Lombard
general insurance company office
located at M.P nagar branch , the
survey is based on a
questionnaire , the questions
were asked randomly to about 40
people the, findings of the survey
are as follows
11. 76
76% employees believe that money is the greatest motivator.
20% employees believe that reward and recognition is the greatest
motivator
4% employees believe praise and promotion is the greatest
motivator.
13. Limitation of the study
Firstly the study is based on primary data which has its own limitation ,of limited
people
Secondly , motivation is a very wide topic it has many topic , i have touched only the
two
Thirdly limited time period was major constraint in the study
14. Analysis of the study
Motivation is considered to be the reason or
driving force behind someones actions or
behaviour according to Oxford, while money
is an acceptable means of payment for goods
provided or services rendered. According to
Bennett(1997), F.W Taylor argued that
managers and employers see money offered
in form of high wages is a primary motivator
or reward for employee effort.
16. Conclusion
The more people focus on their
salaries, the less they will focus
on satisfying their intellectual
curiosity, learning new skills or
having fun and those are the very
things that make people perform
best. Money as motivation is
what oxygen for human beings as
human beings cannot survive
without oxygen as the same way
in an organisation one cannot
survive without money as
motivation.
