Several clinical applications of wearable systems in preventive physical medicine and rehabilitation
emerged in the past few years. They range from simple monitoring of daily activities, for assessing
mobility and level of independence in individuals, to enhance the function of devices utilized by
human to perform motor that they would be otherwise unable to accomplish.
The applications of wearables are endless, and this creates a very diverse market and opportunities
as these kinds of tech devices become more acceptable, their uses and benefits will also increase.
I HAVE A confession to make. Despite my enthusiasm with wearable technology, I havent worn or
play with any of them I bought, Im not the only one.
The first wave of Wearables was a disaster. Its no wonder there were a 30% return rate and high
product abandonment after six months.
Getting wearables right is a tall order. To be truly useful, usable and desirable for people.
While it is premature to predict specific features or form factors that will prevail in the future,
wearable tech presents a fascinating field to study.
