Drug addiction is a disease that is caused by changes in the brain due to drug abuse. Various drugs like alcohol, amphetamines, cannabis, cocaine and others can lead to addiction when abused. Factors like peer pressure, stress, emotional issues, and curiosity can influence people to take drugs. Drug abuse results in physiological and behavioral changes like mood swings, lack of energy, and changes in activities. Long term drug abuse can damage organs and increase health risks like liver disease, heart disease, and cancer. Treating drug addiction involves detoxification, counseling, psychological treatment, medication, and participating in aftercare programs.
