The music video proposal summarizes Beth Melia's concept for a music video for the song "Sweet Disposition" by The Temper Trap. The video aims to portray the ups and downs of being a teenager through capturing realistic footage of their daily lives. It will feature three main characters and use a documentary style with no rehearsed story, just random footage of the characters' daily routines at home, college, work etc. The video aims to have a low budget, student film feel using available lighting and extras willing to participate.

Music Video Proposal and Treatment
Song:Sweet Disposition
Artist:The Temper Trap
My target audience for this music video will be aimed at teenagers. My secondary audience
will be to young adults. The video will be to the song Sweet Disposition by the Australian indie band
The Temper Trap. The genre of the song is indie, its upbeat and fun. The lyrics are relatable to my
target audience, and the feel of what I want my music video to feel like, with lyrics such as A
moment of love, A dream, A laugh, A kiss, A cry, Our rights, Our wrongs. As my target audience will be
teenagers/young adults they can relate to this.
The video type will be a concept video based on the lives of teenagers of normal teenagers
in todays society. I want it to show the ups and downs of being a teenager and growing up; I want it
to focus on the normal things of real life, with real footage (and rehearsed shots when needed). I
think this will appeal to target audience because they will be able to relate to it.
Guild lines and Considerations
1) It is a concept video.
2) Theres no story to it.
3) Its purely based on random footage of daily lives.
4) It is supposed to look cheaply made, keeping with a student feel.
5) Extras used will be anyone willing to be in the video at home/college/work.
6) Will be shot indoors and outdoors.
7) Lighting should be kept high key.
8) Within editing a few filters will be used for example, Black and white or sepia
Here are a few examples of the ideas Im trying to get across

Final Concept
1) Intro (Instrumental Part)- the intro of the song is about 10 seconds long, long enough to introduce each
character briefly. As it will be a day in the life of based video, it will start at the beginning of the day showing
the girls doing their daily things- e.g. getting up, getting ready for college, their trip to college (bus). Over the
shoulder shots will be used looking into the mirror in front of each girl. Each girl will be doing things like their
makeup/hair. Quick fading transitions will be used to see each clip. This should be the only section that looks
properly rehearsed. I want the rest to look real.
2) A moment of love, A dream, A laugh, A kiss, A cry, our rights, our wrongs - These lyrics
are repeated though out the song. For the first time they are sang it is at a slow chilled pace,
this is where I will place establishing shots that will pan across different landscapes of
mornings (cold, sunny, frosty)
