My Interesting Relative
Essay
Ms. A. Rodriguez
I have a younger brother named Gabriel.
He is five years younger than me.
He is my most interesting relative. I say
this because Gabriel chased his dream to
become a chef and actually did it.
When he was in high school, he was
unsatisfied. He dropped out and got his GED.
He went to Lehman College and
studied Anthropology, but he was
still unhappy.
Even at his older age he decided to
follow his dream .
He transferred to Johnson and Wales
University to study Culinary Arts.
At J.W.U. he worked to support
himself as a bartender and a waiter.
He went to Germany, France,
Switzerland and Spain to study wine.
Gabriel graduated with an associates degree and
then completed his bachelors degree in Culinary
Arts and Food Service Management.
He knows how to match wine with food.
He knows about nutrition and how to
manage a restaurant.
He is now an assistant manager of a
French/Vietnamese fusion restaurant in the
SoHo area of Manhattan.
