Gabriel is the author's younger brother who is their most interesting relative because he chased his dream of becoming a chef. After dropping out of high school and studying anthropology in college, Gabriel decided to follow his culinary passion by transferring to Johnson and Wales University to study culinary arts. He supported himself through school by bartending and waiting tables, and furthered his education through wine studies in Europe. Gabriel has since graduated with an associate's and bachelor's degree in culinary arts and food service management, and now works as an assistant manager at a French/Vietnamese fusion restaurant in Manhattan.
