3. To Whom It May Concern,
My knowledge of Brian Reid goes back almost three decades. Having seen him as a
鍖edgling professional player with Greenock Morton, then Glasgow Rangers Football Club,
I selected him for the Scotland International Under 21 side where he acquitted himself very
well indeed. Subsequent playing spells with Burnley and Blackpool in England and with
Dunfermline Athletic, Falkirk, Queen of the South and Ayr United con鍖rmed that, in spite of a
career threatening knee injury, he had a more than worthwhile playing career.
Appointed Manager of Ayr United FC some 鍖ve years ago Brian had instant success winning
two of his three promotions and guiding the club to the Semi Final of the Scottish League
Cup and Quarter Finals of the Scottish Cup. During his 鍖ve year spell in charge at Ayr he
impressed because of his industrious approach, tactical awareness, people skills and
constant dignity. Since 鍖nishing his popular period at Ayr he has con鍖rmed his desire to
continue to develop his fantastic abilities by enrolling for the UEFA Pro-Licence Award.
It is without reservation that I would recommend Brian Reid for a coaching/management
role within professional football.
Yours Faithfully,
Craig Brown CBE
