This document summarizes a shopping experience at a small, family-run store. The store is located in a bungalow-style building with a colorful sign. Inside, the store has white walls and tiled floors, with merchandise arranged throughout the aisles in the limited space. The environment is warm and smells of flowers. Customers are greeted at the entrance and assisted if needed by family members who work there. A wide variety of products are displayed at eye level, with some items like jewelry kept in an enclosed shelf near the cashier. Most customers are able to find what they need and around 60% make a purchase.
2. It was the first appearance of the store that drew
me in. though not as big as the stores am used to
shopping in, but I just moved into the area and I
need to look for a place to shop.
It is a bungalow type building, the door is wide
open . It has a large banner signpost which is a bit
colourful and the letterings are bold and legible.
5. ENVIRONMENT
The colour is white both on the outside and
inside and the floor is tiled. The merchandise are
arranged in an easy to find way as the space is
not much. You can easily find what you are
looking for by scanning through the aisle, but
they are not tagged.
The environment is not noisy though by the side
of the road. There is no music playing in the store
and it’s warm. It Is filled with merchandised and
arranged to fit in the space available.
6. There is a smell when you get into the store, nice
flowery fragrant. The cash register is located at
the other end of the room but one can see
everyone that is coming and going from that
angle.
There is no security guard at the entrance of the
store.
9. PERSONNEL
You are greeted at the entrance by the person
in charge at the entrance. This is a
neighbourhood store that is run by a family. The
people manning the stores are family members.
There are about four males in the store, they
greet every customer warmly on entering and
they assist where requested to. There is no
uniform for them.
11. PRODUCTS
On entering the store you are faced with the display in
the picture on the next slide.
There is no sales going on in this outlet and the goods
are arranged by products. There are no free samples
for the products and most of the products are at eye
level.
The least accessible products are the jewelleries and
wrist watches which are kept in an enclosed shelve not
far from the cashier and the store attendant that sits by
the door. They prices are keyed in when you want to
pay, you can ask the attendant for the price to be sure
you have the budget for it.
15. CUSTOMERS
Some of the customers are single, some couple
and a times the families. The customers come
in and walk in different aisles, for those who
need specific product they walk straight to the
cashier or the attendant to ask. About 60% of
the customers do purchase what they want
from the store.
