This document discusses the evolution of game formats from less complex to more complex (e.g. 3v3 to 5v5 to 7v7) and how each format should represent the full 11v11 game. It states that the transition between formats must have a coherent understanding of how the team wants to play at all levels of organization. The 5v5 format is used as an example, noting that it should include geometry, sectors, corridors, bigger distances between players, and specialization of roles that represent the eventual 11v11 structure. Diagrams are provided showing examples of 5v5, 4v4, and 3v3 structures that include aspects of the full 11v11 setup.

2. II. FORMAT 5V5. EVOLUTION OF GAME FORMATS COMPLEXITY.
Needing of creating safe and viable supports (supports close and far from the ball)
Give security to ball circulation / circulate through favorable zones/roads
Close Spaces close and far from the ball
Guide opponent / promote them to make error and press to win the ball (defend
to attack, not defend to destroy).
2.1. 5V5 FORMAT. NECESSITY OF COHERENCE AS A FUNCTION OF PREVIOUS AND FURTHER
FORMATS OF PLAY.
In my opinion, the transition from one less to a more complex format (ex: 3v3 to 5v5
and 5v5 to 7v7) must comprehend a full understanding about the game 11 v 11 itself
and how we want to play at all levels of their complex organization.
From the moment the How to Play is idealized for 11v11, the previous formats must
be representative of 11v11 and that is much more than simply defining systems of play.
That has much to do, for example, with dynamics and sub dynamics.
However, because each system, as reference by itself, can enhance several dynamics
(shapes), it is very important that the choice of systems obeys to certain characteristics.
In the case of 4v4 and 5v5, the main characteristics were these:
- Geometry characteristics representative of our idea for 7v7 and 11v11 (namely
triangular interactions);
- Countaining all Sectors, and corridors Notions, of our structure of 11v11 that
must include Goalkeeper Sector, Defenders Sector, Midfielders Sector and
Attackers Sector. This has to do with the evolution we aim for 11v11, that is
starting from the draw of our central substructure of 11v11 (from where will
emerge its inner interactions and the outside substructure)
3. - Bigger Distances and the fact we have more players, allows to start promoting
using also far supports in connecting play besides just near supports (that
happen with more propensity in 2v2 or 3v3);
- Bigger Distances promote greater interaction in closing spaces near the ball and
far from the ball as a function of opposition in all sectors and corridors.
- Better understanding about players characteristics and potential positions;
- Start specializing general roles about fixed substructure (GK and defender)
This can be understandable through the following figures:
Figure 1. One Goalkeeper (1)- Two defenders (4 and 3) One Pivot (6) Two centre midfielders(8 and
10)- One striker (9).
4. Figure 2. One Goalkeeper (1)- Two defenders (4 and 3) One Pivot (6) Two wingers (7 and 11)- one
striker (9).
Figure 3 7v7 Structure. One Goalkeeper (1)- Two defenders (4 and 3) One Pivot (6) Two wingers (7
and 11)- one striker (9).
From that global characteristics, it is possible to shape complex dynamics enhancers
of improving collective and individual quality of play in GK+4v GK +4:

substructure of 11v11
Figure 5. 4v 4 Strucure. Fixed substructure (GK/Defender) + 3 players representing mobile substructure
of 11v11
6. Figure 6. 3v 3 Strucure. 1 player representative of Fixed substructure (if we play with GK) + 2 players
representing mobile substructure of 11v11 or 3 players representing mobile substructure of 11v11 (if
we play without GK)
